ROYAL OAK, MI — The Battle Creek Battle Jacks lost heartbreakingly, dropping their ninth consecutive game to the Royal Oak Leprechauns 4-3 as they walked it off in the ninth.

The Royal Oak Leprechauns got out to an early lead on Friday, taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom half of the second inning; however, their lead did not last as the Battle Jacks struck back in the third inning, scoring three runs off RBI’s from Brendan Thompson, Thomas Cooper and Dayne Wimberly to take a 3-1 lead.

Strong pitching kept the Battle Jacks’ lead as they headed into the second half of the contest.

In the sixth inning, the momentum switched, and the Leprechauns scored two runs to tie the game 3-3 as this one seemed to be heading down to the wire.

The Battle Jacks’ offence seemed to hit a wall as they were only able to capitalize in the third inning on Friday.

The ninth inning saw the Leprechauns walk the Battle Jacks off, as they have seemed to do so often as of late, as a single from Mason Barth scored Noah Brocklebank.

The Battle Jacks look to bounce back on Saturday as they head to Rockford for a two-game set before a much-needed All-Star break.
