The Battle Jacks take the series opener on Friday at MCCU Field 3-2 against the Royal Oak Leprechauns.
Both offences got off to a slow start before Battle Creek broke the tie with a Jake Stedman RBI ground out in the 4th. However, the Leprechauns responded with a Mason Barth home run in the 6th and an RBI single from Connor Larkin in the 7th to take the lead.
In the 8th, Battle Creek stormed back, scoring 2 runs to take the lead with a 2-run single from Gehrig Goldback.
The ninth inning saw Sam Bespoyasny enter the game for the Battle Jacks and shut down Royal Oak to win the game, breaking an 11-game slide.
The Battle Jacks look to stay hot on Saturday for the second game of the series, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
