BATTLE CREEK, MI — The Battle Creek Battle Jacks snap their three-game losing streak with a strong performance defeating the first-place Traverse City Pit Spitters.
The Battle Jacks stormed out to an early lead in the second inning as Jake Stedman and Brady LaViolette scored off RBI’s from Noah Hogan and Owen Larrigan.
The Battle Jacks extended the lead in the fourth, scoring one run as Gehrig Goldbeck crossed home plate off an RBI from Marcus Dierks, to take a 3-0 lead.
The Pit Spitters later tied the game at 3’s in the fifth, as the Battle Jacks headed into the bottom of the fifth inning looking to regain the lead.
The Battle Jacks just did that in the latter half of the fifth, taking a 4-3 lead off an RBI sacrifice fly from Gehrig Goldbeck.
They continued their offensive surge in the seventh, scoring another run to take a 5-3 lead, as they looked to close the door heading into the final six outs of the contest.
The Battle Jacks closed out the game with three straight outs in the ninth inning to secure the win.
Battle Creek is back in action on Wednesday for a double header against the Pit Spitters with first pitch scheduled for 11:05 am, followed by a 7:05 pm start time.
