The Battle Creek Bombers topped the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters, 4-1, Monday afternoon at C.O. Brown Stadium, snapping their two-game losing streak and preventing the Rafters from clinching the first-half South division crown for the time being.

The Bombers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth as Daniel Jipping continued his hot-hitting with a one-out double, scoring on Ryan Dorow's RBI single.

In the fifth, with the Bombers facing starter Gareth Stroh for the third time through the order, the Bombers extended their lead as they knocked Stroh out of the game. After Jipping flew out to deep center, Christian Helsel walked and was followed by three-straight singles by Dorow, Nick Podkul and Alejandro Gomez to make it a 4-0 ballgame.

Stroh pitched 5.2 innings for the Rafters allowing four runs on eight hits, striking out and walking one, as he took the loss for the Rafters.

On the other side of the hill, Bombers' starter Tommy Parsons shut down the Rafters through six innings as he worked around three hits and didn't allow a run, striking out two batters in his sixth start of the year. With the win Parsons moves to 4-1 on the year for Battle Creek.

Cody Puckett relieved Parsons in the seventh, allowing one unearned run in the seventh, as the Rafters put together two singles and scored a run on Ryan Dorow's errant throw to make it a 4-1 game.

Puckett pitched 2.2 innings of relief for the Bombers, striking out five batters as Brandon Guske relieved Puckett with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. Guske got Rob Calabrese to ground out to end the game as he nailed down sixth save of the year.

With the win the Bombers move to 18-17 on the year while the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters fall to 23-12. The two squads will return to action Tuesday night at 7:05 at C.O. Brown Stadium as the Bombers look to sweep the South-division leader.
