Battle Creek, Mich. – The Battle Creek Bombers trailed the entire game on Independence Day as they would drop game two 6-3 to the Wisconsin Woodchucks.

The Bombers (20-15) went down early as starter Dakota Edwards (Cal State Stanislaus) allowed two runs in just one inning of work.

Trailing 3-0 the BC offense finally struck in the third inning as they scored two runs, getting RBIs from Nick Walker (Austin Peay State University) and Justin Felix (Arkansas State University).

Zach Helsel (Miami Dade) came in for relief in the fifth, but allowed three runs which would extend the Chucks’ lead.  Helsel lasted 4.0 innings allowing the three runs on five hits.

Battle Creek only managed four hits on the night, with Walker, Felix, Nikola Vasic (McHenry County College), and Winston Welch (Arkansas State University) the only Bombers to tally hits.

Alexander Leija (Marygrove College) pitched for the first time in a BC jersey, as out of the bullpen he went 3.0 innings allowing one run on two hits.

Colton Bradley (Central Michigan) pitched the ninth, striking out the three batters he faced.

BC is now 3-1 on the year against the Woodchucks.

The loss concluded the first half of the season, as Battle Creek finished 20-15 through the first 36 days of the season.  They sit in third-place in the south division standings, two games behind the Kenosha Kingfish.

Second-place Kenosha comes to Battle Creek starting tomorrow, as game one against the Kingfish is set for 7:05 p.m. ET at C.O. Brown Stadium.

Tune in to the pregame show on the Bombers Radio Network with Jake Hromada and Neil Doyle at 6:55 p.m. ET.
