The Bombers have added another Division 1 player to their 2011 roster, signing pitcher Alex Loftin from the University of Akron.
“Alex is a veteran player with a proven track record for his university along with the other summer college leagues he has played for. He is a nice addition to our pitching staff.” said Bombers GM Brian Colopy.
Alex Loftin: 5’11-205, R/R, RHP, Univ. of Akron (Jr.), Stow, OH.
Loftin is in his junior season at Akron and is the #2 starter in the rotation. For the Zips, he currently has a 4.15 ERA with 20 strikeouts through six starts. He has been named the Mid-Atlantic Conference Pitcher of the Week three times over the course of his career with the Zips. Enrolled in Akron’s School of Education, Loftin is majoring in Exercise Science.
Alex spent the 2010 summer with the Edenton Steamers of the Coastal Plain League and was ranked in the league’s “Top 35 Prospects” by Perfect Game Crosschecker, the definitive source on collegiate summer baseball.
