The Bombers have inked another outfielder for the 2011 roster, signing leadoff hitter Alex Robinson from the University of Notre Dame.

“Alex has all the tools to be a successful top of the lineup guy for us this summer.  He’s fast, he gets on base, and he knows the game of baseball.” said Bombers GM Brian Colopy.

Robinson will make the short 90 minute drive from South Bend, IN to Battle Creek for the summer. This season, he is hitting .214 for the 9-12 Fighting Irish while playing significant time in centerfield.

Prior to his time at UND, Robinson had a stellar high school career at First Baptist Academy and was ranked the sixth best prospect coming out of Texas in 2007 by Perfect Game Crosschecker.

Alex is also an impressive student, enrolled in the nationally-acclaimed Mendoza College of Business as a management-entrepreneurship major.
