The Bombers made it four in a row Tuesday night at Witter Field, taking the first of three games against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 4-1.
Both teams put a run on the board in the second inning with three hits apiece, and Bryce Redeker did it for Battle Creek, just one night removed from his walk-off homer to sweep the Woodchucks. The game was scoreless until the ninth when the Bombers pulled away: Danny Rockett continued to prove why he’s an All-Star selection, slugging a two-run double, and he scored when the Rafters shortstop bobbled a Jordan Dean ground ball.
Nick Frey had another one-run outing, this time going six innings, but Caleb Vincent picked up his second win in as many appearances, and Kristian Calibuso picked up another save.
Game two is Wednesday night in Wisconsin Rapids when Alex Loftin takes the hill for the Bombers.
