Bombers Are Looking to Soar, Adding a Cardinal and a Flyer

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The Battle Creek Bombers have added two talented players to this year’s roster; Amani Godfrey is a right-handed pitcher from Saginaw Valley State University, while Riley Tirotta is an impressive infielder, who also is a designated hitter for The University of Dayton. This Recruiting Trail update is presented by OnStaff Group.

3B – Riley Tirotta, 6’3″, R/R, Freshman, University of Dayton

Riley Tirotta is a South Bend, Ind. native who is playing collegiate ball in Dayton, Ohio, before he gets the chance to finish his Midwest baseball tour in Battle Creek, Michigan. Tirotta is only a freshman for the Flyers, but he has made a name for himself with his ability to get hits when he is at the plate. Tirotta has appeared in all 16 of the Flyers games this year, and has managed to get at least one hit in half of those games. Tirotta isn’t a power hitter thus far in his collegiate career, but he has accumulated a solid .273 batting average, which is actually lower than normal for Riley after an 0-8 weekend. Dayton got off to a rough start with a 1-7 record to begin their year. However, the Flyers have managed to regain some control with a 4-4 record in their last 8 games, bringing their season total to 5-11. The season is still young for Dayton, and they have a lot of time to get back on track, especially with talented players like Riley Tirotta.

RHP – Amani Godfrey, 6’3″, R/R, Sophomore, Saginaw Valley State

Amani Godfrey is another young talent coming to the Bombers this summer. Godfrey hails from Southfield, Mich. has appeared in 5 games this year for the Cardinals, 4 of those were starting appearances. So far, Amani is 2-0 on the year, with 2 of his starts ending as a no-decision. Godfrey has pitched 22-innings this year, accumulating 33 strikeouts. Amani has been a reliable fielder while on the mound as well, only committing 1 error, maintaining a .800 fielding percentage. While Amani is undefeated this season, he will look to improve upon his ERA and hits allowed. Godfrey played the top-half of SVSU’s recent double-header against Truman, so he will likely see his next start towards the end of their series with Tiffin, or to start their series with Davenport.
