Loggers Build Tar Heel Connection
Holt and Munson Headed to La Crosse

(LA CROSSE, WI) The La Crosse Loggers network of colleges just grew in a big way when the seventh-year franchise announced the signing of a pair of players from the University of North Carolina today. First baseman Greg Holt and southpaw Logan Munson, both sophomores, will join the Lumbermen after their spring seasons in 2009.

Holt [left] is following up a very successful stint in the Coastal Plain summer collegiate League where he hit .303 over 119 at-bats for the Asheboro Copperheads. Holt also had a tremendous fall campaign in Chapel Hill where he locked down the first base starting duties. The 6-2, 205 pound first baseman was also highly touted coming out of high school as Impact Baseball ranked him the No. 8 prospect in the state and Baseball America tabbed him as the No. 216 prospect in the country prior to his senior year. Holt also earned the title of North Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year in 2005.

Munson [right] is a big left-hander that saw time out of the Tar Heel bullpen as a freshman and also enjoyed a quality summer in the Coastal Plains League. The Columbia, South Carolina native posted a 3.00 ERA over 15 innings for the Tar Heels who ended their
2008 campaign falling in the College World Series finals to Fresno State with a 54-14 record. Munson also posted a 2-0 record with a 3.38 ERA for the Florence RedWolves of the CPL last summer over nine appearances, two of which were starts.
