Castillo Signs on For Another Beetle Summer

(ALEXANDRIA, MN) NWL 2008 All-Star, offensive centerpiece and three-year Beetle-to-be Keith Castillo has committed for the 2009 Alexandria Beetles season. Castillo was among the team leaders in nearly every offensive category in 2008.

Castillo, a switch-hitting 1B/C/OF from University of Southern California led the Beetles in batting average (.309), home runs (6), on-base percentage (.420) and was second in doubles (12), walks (32) and slugging percentage (.464). Castillo is currently tied for the career home run record (14) with 2003/2005 Beetle Allen Craig (California). He is also tied for second with 2006 Danny Worth (Pepperdine) in career stolen bases with 29.

The 6’3″ Huntington Beach, CA native enters his junior year at USC and looks to carry his successful ’08 summer season into PAC-10 competition. Castillo could completely re-write the Beetles records book with another successful 2009 campaign. He is just one home run, 39 hits, 11 doubles, 24 RBI and 18 walks from become the career leader in each category.
