Defending Champs Announce the Return of Two

(THUNDER BAY, ONT) The Thunder Bay Border Cats announced the re-signing of two players from the 2008 roster. Third Baseman Chris Curley and Catcher Dean Forthun will  both be returning to the defending Northwoods League Champions. 

Curley, who is currently a junior at Campbellsville University in Kentucky will be back for his third season with the Cats. The Fort Mitchell, KY native played in 64 games last season, batting .244. Curley was tied for first on the club with seven home runs, and was third in runs batted in with 33. He is the all-time Border Cats home run leader with 12 over his two previous seasons.

Forthun joined the Cats last July 16, after an injury to starting catcher Danny Benedetti. In 24 games, the junior from Columbia University in New York, hit .244 and drove in six runs. Forthun, who hails from Glendora, CA, had seven of his 21 hits go for extra bases.
