Loggers Lasso a Pair of Longhorns

(LA CROSSE, WI) The La Crosse Loggers inked a pair of freshman from the nationally ranked Texas Longhorn program as team officials announced the signing of left-hander Andrew McKirahan and outfielder Morgan Mickan for the 2009 campaign.

McKirahan, a 6-2, 180 pound southpaw out of Georgetown, TX has appeared in three games out of the bullpen, allowing two runs and striking out two over three innings. 

Outfielder Morgan Mickan was ranked as the #20 prospect in the state of Texas coming out of high school on the Inside Prep Baseball Top 25 list. A left-handed hitter, Mickan’s speed and athleticism are his biggest assets as he was also a standout quarterback at Georgetown High School (Texas) and recruited by a number of Division I schools to play football. Mickan also earned third-team, Class 5A allstate baseball honors as a senior in 2008. Morgan has yet to receive an at-bat but has played in six games.

Texas is currently off to a 17-7 start and ranked #9 in the nation by Baseball America in the latest poll.
