UNLV Catcher Headed to Rochester
(ROCHESTER, MN) The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club announced the signing of Drew Beuerlein, a 6 foot, 195-pound junior catcher from the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV).
Currently Beuerlein is hitting .407 with 22 RBI, 2 home runs and a .729 slugging percentage for the 13-13 Running Rebels.
A native of Scottsdale, AZ, Beuerlein graduated from Desert Mountain High School in 2006. He lettered all four years as a catcher and was an all-region selection from 2004-2006. As a freshman at UNLV, Beuerlein played in a total of 16 games, 12 of them starts, hitting .324 with 4 RBI. In 2008, he made 17 starts at catcher, hitting .260 with 2 homeruns and 10 RBI.
Beuerlein is the cousin of Steve Beuerlein, the former NFL quarterback who played for 14 seasons and retired in 2003.
