Woodchucks Sign Two Middle Infielders

(WAUSAU, WI) The Wisconsin Woodchucks have strengthened their middle infield with the recent signings of infielders Joey Hainsfurther and Kale Kiser. Hainsfurther and Kiser are true freshmen at Baylor University and the University of Nebraska, respectively.

Hainsfurther is the starting shortstop for the Baylor Bears, who are ranked #7 in the country by Baseball America. Hainsfurther, a switch-hitting freshman, is leading the Bears in batting average hitting at a .387 clip. He was a two-time all-state selection while playing high school baseball in Texas. Last June the San Francisco Giants selected him in the 46th round of the MLB First-Year Player Draft.

Kiser is a switching-hitting freshman second baseman for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He’s been limited to 22 at-bats this spring and is hitting .227 with one home run and five RBI. As a high school senior last year, Kiser led Plano West High School (Texas) to a state title and a #1 national ranking. Collegiate Baseball gave him honorable-mention All-America honors after hitting .432 with 52 runs scored and 19 stolen bases during his senior season.
