(EAU CLAIRE, WI) Eau Claire Express field manager Dale Varsho announced the addition of three pitchers to his 2009 roster. UC Davis freshmen Tyler Bremer and Scotty Walker will join the team along with Des Moines Area Community College sophomore Cole Nelson. The Express roster now stands at 14.

Bremer is a 6-foot-2, 210-pound right-hander from Berkeley, CA. He has a 0-1 record with a 2.57 earned run average so far this spring. His 21 innings pitched covering six appearances including three starts. Walker is a 6-foot-1, 185-pound left-hander from Rocklin, CA. In one appearance this spring, he has given up three earned runs in two-thirds of an inning. Walker went 5-6 with a 2.49 ERA and was named team MVP as a high school senior in 2007. He was redshirted in 2008 at UC Davis. Walker is looking forward to testing his talent against Northwoods League competition after completing his freshman season.

“Being able to play in a new city like Eau Claire against great competition is something I am looking forward to. I’ve also heard the Northwoods League gets great pro scout exposure, so that will help me get an idea of where I’m at baseball-wise.”

Nelson is a 6-foot-8, 225-pound native of Edina, MN. The left-hander had a perfect 5-0 record 10 games (six starts) as a freshman for the DMACC Bears. Nelson’s 3.05 ERA led the team. He has signed a letter of intent to play at Auburn next season. So far this spring he has two saves in nine relief appearances and a 2.92 ERA.
