(ROCHESTER, MN) The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club announced that Aaron Johnson, a 6’0″, 210-pound junior catcher from the University of Illinois will return for his second season behind the plate for the Honkers. He’ll join second year Honker and Illinois teammate, Phil Haig, on the squad this summer. Currently Johnson is hitting .366 with four home runs and a team-high 28 RBI.

Last summer for the Honkers, Johnson hit .243 with three home runs and 13 RBI before a knee injury ended his season.

Johnson, a native of Sussex Corner, New Brunswick, played in the summer of 2007 for the Lethbridge Bulls of the Western Major Baseball League in Canada. He hit .333 with 18 RBI, and eight doubles while throwing out 40% of would-be base-stealers. He spent his freshman season attending the Canadian Prairie Baseball Academy where he hit .333 with 30 RBI. Johnson was drafted in the 46th round by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2006.
