Honkers Sign NC State Outfielder
(ROCHESTER, MN) The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club announced the signing of John Gianis, a 6’2” 177 pound freshman outfielder from North Carolina State University.
Currently Gianis is hitting .317 in 32 games for the 19-21 NC State Wolfpack.
Gianis was named to The Newark Star-Ledger’s all-prep team in 2008 after batting .350 at The Hun School of Princeton. He was named the Colonial Hills Conference Player of the Year as a junior at Morristown-Beard High School in 2007 where he batted .525 with 10 doubles, six triples and one home run, and set a school record with 48 stolen bases in 49 attempts. Gianis stole 108 bases in three seasons at Morristown-Beard, a school record for career steals. A well rounded athlete, Gianis played soccer and set school records at Morristown-Beard for career and single-season goals scored.
