Duluth Inks Two Freshman Gators

(DULUTH, MN) The Duluth Huskies have signed a duo from the University of Florida for the upcoming season. Preston Tucker and Greg Larson are the latest additions to the 2009 Huskies roster.

Tucker, a freshman 1B/OF from Tampa, FL is off to an impressive start for the Gators hitting .333 with 49 hits, 6 doubles, 3 triples, and 9 home runs in 147 at bats so far in his first collegiate season. The 6’0″, 200 lb left-handed hitting frosh has shown his versatility on the diamond by playing both infield and outfield positions. Last season, Tucker was an honorable mention Louisville Slugger All-American while playing for prestigious Plant H.S. (Tampa) where he garnered 2007 and 2008 First Team All-State honors. 

Larson, a 6’8″ right-handed pitcher out of Longwood, FL finished last season listed among the 2008 Top 100 High School Prospects by Baseball America. In 2007 he was named to the 32 man Junior National team trials. Off to a great start for the Gators, Greg currently carries a 1.17 ERA in 23 innings pitched and is tabbed as a starting pitcher for the Huskies once he arrives in Duluth.
