Express Add Three to Roster

(EAU CLAIRE, WI) Eau Claire Express field manager Dale Varsho announced the addition of three more players to his 2009 roster. The addition of sophomore Gera Sanchez and juniors Nick Greenwood and Robbie Knight brings the Express roster to 21.

Sanchez is a 5-foot-11-inch, 170-pound pitcher from New Mexico Junior College. As a freshman, the right-hander was 10-1 with a 4.01 earned run average and 92 strikeouts in 60.2 innings pitched. Sanchez was named the Gatorade State Player of the Year in New Mexico as a high school Junior. He is being red-shirted this season by the Thunderbirds. 

Greenwood is a 6-foot-1-inch, 175-pound pitcher from Rhode Island. On the season, Greenwood is 4-3 with a 4.08 ERA in a team leading 64 innings pitched. The Southington, CT native has 12 career wins for the Rams.

Knight is a 5-foot-11-inch, 175-pound outfielder from Creighton. He returns for a second summer after a successful 2008 season for the Express. Knight batted .259 last summer and led the club with 44 runs scored. He leads the Jays with a .348 batting average this spring. Knight holds a NCAA Division I single-season record after being hit by 35 pitches in 60 games in 2007.
