Golden Eagle Becomes a Teal Honker
(Rochester, MN)-The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club announced today the signing of Drew Bowen, a 6-foot-3, 210-pound freshman right-handed pitcher from Oral Roberts University. Bowen is the second Golden Eagle in Rochester Honker history to don the teal in the summer.
Currently Bowen is 2-0 with a 5.40 ERA for Oral Roberts. The late inning reliever has made 11 total appearances on the season, pitching 23.1 innings, striking out 27 and holding opponents to a .228 batting average.
Bowen earned his 2nd victory of the season Thursday night, pitching the final two shutout innings against Wichita State in the 7-6 13-inning win. Bowen faced 8 total batters, giving up 0 runs, scattering 2 hits and walking 1 to earn the win.
Bowen, a 2008 graduate of Tulsa Memorial High School (Tulsa, OK), was named the 2008 Conference Pitcher of the Year. He was four-time all-conference performer, a member of the Rawlings All-Region West Team and was ranked in the top 300 prospects nationally by Perfect Game.
Bowen was heavily recruited by Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and TCU before choosing Oral Roberts.
