Border Cats Add Four More to Roster

(THUNDER BAY, ONT) The Thunder Bay Border Cats announced the signing of four players for the 2009 season. Joining the Cats are outfielder Tyler Baisley, shortstop Garrett Totten, and pitchers Matt Robertson and Randy Mower. The latest additions brings the Border Cats roster to 17 players. 

Baisley, a 6’6, 200 pound right-handed hitter is in his junior season at Northwestern State University in Louisiana. The native of Gilbert, AZ has played in 36 games for the Demons this season, and is batting .259 with four home runs and 18 runs batted in. 

Totten plays his college ball at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX. The 5’10, 180 pound freshman from Brier, WA has played in 39 games this year and is hitting .225 with one home run and 15 RBI. 

Robertson is a righthander from Valley Center, KS. He currently is in his sophomore season at Barton Community College in Great Bend, KS. The 6’1, 185 pounder has made 13 starts this season, going 6-5 with a 5.11 earned run average. Robertson has pitched four complete games and has one shutout. He has been drafted each of the last two years by the Detroit Tigers (42nd and 49th rounds). His brother Nate Robertson is a pitcher for the Tigers.

Mower is a lefthander at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. The 6’3, 185 pound southpaw was named the Hawks pitcher of the year and the team’s most valuable player in 2008. Mower, who hails from Hatfield, PA is 5-5 with a 5.25 ERA this season. All 11 of his appearances have been starts and he has one complete game.
