Woodchucks Sign Ohio Bobcats’ Closer

(WAUSAU, WI) Bryce Butt, a right-handed pitcher from Ohio University, has inked a contract with the Wisconsin Woodchucks for the 2009 summer. Butt is in his junior season and is one of the Bobcats’ top relief pitchers.

The 5’10”, 180-pound righty has appeared in 22 games this spring with 20 of those coming in relief. In 50.1 innings pitched Butt has struck out 45, while only walking 15. He carries a 4-6 record and is the team leader in saves with five.

One of Butt’s best outings came on April 18th against Akron. The junior from Omaha, Nebraska, entered the game in the top of the ninth with the scored tied at 8-8. Butt lasted five innings and allowed no runs on six hits. His Bobcats teammates helped him earn the win by scoring the winning run in the bottom of the 13th.
