The Northwoods League has announced that pitchers Richie Erath (Florida Gulf Coast) of La Crosse and Matt Patterson (Creighton) of Duluth have been named to the NWL All-Star game. Erath and Patterson replace Wisconsin’s Bobby Pritchett (Central Arkansas) and Sean Yost (Nebraska) from Duluth will not be participating due to minor injuries. Erath joins the South Division All-Stars and Patterson the North Division  All-Stars.

Erath has been spectacular in the Loggers rotation. He has made seven starts posting a 3-1 record with a 1.94 ERA. The sophomore-to-be from Wellington, Florida has walked just seven batters in his 41.2 innings pitched.

Patterson has been a mainstay at the back end of the Huskies bullpen. Patterson has made 15 appearances, thrown 28 innings, recorded 3 wins and 7 saves with a miniscule ERA of 0.32. Patterson is a St. Louis, Missouri native and heading into his senior year at Creighton University.

The 2009 All-Star Game will be played Tuesday, July 21st at 6:05 PM Eastern in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada.  The host North Division All-Stars will take on their South Division counterparts at Port Arthur Stadium, home to the reigning Northwoods League Champion Thunder Bay Border Cats. The two-day event, which begins with a banquet dinner featuring Hall of Famer Ferguson Jenkins Monday night, July 20th, will conclude with the main attraction, the 2009 Northwoods League All-Star Game, Tuesday evening. The All-Star Game will be streamed over the internet with an enhanced video webcast on NorthwoodsLeague.tv. In the hours leading up to the game on the 21st, events will include a player scouting combine, a fan fest, and the annual Home Run Derby.
