Joining the 2009 Northwoods League All-Stars in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Tuesday were two very special Canadians. Throwing out the first pitch was former MLB pitcher and a member of the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame, Ferguson Jenkins.  Catching for Jenkins was Jordan Staal of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Jenkins was the guest of honor throughout the All-Star activities in Thunder Bay.  He spoke at the Opening Ceremonies reception as well as with those gathered for an area youth workout before the scouting combine at Port Arthur Stadium.  He made himself available during the game to sign autographs and to discuss the Ferguson Jenkins Foundation.

Jordan Staal, a native of Thunder Bay and member of the reigning Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins, made a special appearance with Lord Stanley’s Cup during his “Day with The Cup.”  After participating in the first pitch with Jenkins, Staal took pictures with both teams of All-Stars before heading out to spend time with family, friends and the Stanley Cup.
