As the academic school year begins to wind down, college baseball is in full swing. And that means that Opening Day 2010 for the Northwoods League is less than two months away. And all the Northwoods teams are getting ready for the show, signing players in bunches and making exciting announcements!

Just within the last week, Madison, Green Bay, Thunder Bay, Eau Claire, Wisconsin Rapids, and Mankato have announced multiple signings on one day or another.

The Mallards signed four Fighting Illini from the University of Illinois: pitcher Bryan Roberts, catcher Adam Davis, infielder Josh Parr, and slugger Casey McMurray. Catcher Pierce Rankin, infielder Troy Scott and pitcher Forrest Snow, all from the University of Washington, inked contracts with the Green Bay Bullfrogs.

The Thunder Bay Border Cats brought Hawaiian third baseman P.K. Kitamura on board, along with Canadian catcher Brooklyn Foster and pitcher Josh Deeg, from Xavier University. The Eau Claire Express announced the signings of outfielder Jacob Morris (U of Arkansas) and pitcher Dietrich Enns (Central Michigan U).

Wrapping up the role call are the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters, who signed Cody Koback, a Wisconsin native who plays pitcher and outfield, and sophomore infielder Trent Jemmett, from California. The Mankato MoonDogs added pitchers Clint Dempster from Nicholls State University and Blake Schwartz, who attends Minnesota State University.
