The Madison Mallards and the Northwoods League will be treated to a second season of NC State slugger Harold Riggins (pictured). The 2009 NWL All-Star and Home Run Derby Champion recently signed to return to Madison where he hit .308 with nine home runs and 48 RBI last summer.

Wisconsin Woodchuck fans recently learned about a couple new Cowboys coming to town – Oklahoma State University’s Chance Deason and Don Lisi. Deason struck out over 500 hitters in his high school career, and 142 in two years at Eastern Oklahoma State College. Meanwhile, Lisi, son of former big leaguer Rick Lisi, isn’t too shabby in that department himself; he has 149 whiffs in 158 career collegiate innings.

Elsewhere round the Northwoods League, as the weather gets warmer and warmer, the teams are busying themselves finalizing their rosters with opening day just over a month away. Other notable signings include pitcher Bret Mitchell and infielder Danny Pulfer, both returning to Rochester after last year’s championship run, outfielders Derek Brown and Brian Embery (Wisconsin Rapids), and pitcher Mike Thomas (Green Bay).
