Friday Summary

St. Cloud 9, Thunder Bay 4
The St. Cloud River Bats beat the Thunder Bay Border Cats at Port Arthur Stadium by a score of 9-4.  St. Cloud took an early 4-0 lead and never looked backed.  The River Bats designated hitter, Armando Gutierrez (Missouri Baptist), went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI.  River Bats starter, Andy Berry (West Virginia), earned the win throwing 7.0 innings of one run baseball.  J.C. Casey (Missouri State) earned the save for the Bats throwing the final 1.2 innings of scoreless baseball.    Thunder Bay’s Tanner Nivins (Stony Brook) and Ryan Court (Illinois State) each had two hit games in the loss. 

Battle Creek 8, Wisconsin Rapids 2
The Battle Creek Bombers used a four run sixth inning to beat the Rafters Friday night.  Battle Creek left fielder, Andrew Lawrence (Boston College), was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI.  Brett Kauten (Spring Arbor) and Josh Rosencrans (Grayson CC) each had two hits for the Bombers.  The real story for the Bombers was their starting pitcher, Joe Battestelli (Eastern Michigan) who threw a complete game.  Battestelli only gave up five hits over the 9.0 innings while striking out eight to earn the win.   

Green Bay 5, Waterloo 1
The Green Bay Bullfrogs Riley Henricks (Portland) helped lead the team to victory over the Waterloo Bucks by going 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBI.  Henricks had two doubles to pace the Bullfrog offense.  The Bullfrogs starter, Kris Edwards, earned the win throwing 6.1 innings of one run baseball.  The Bucks only managed four hits on the night and their pitching staff had six walks on the night. 

Alexandria 7, Mankato 2
The Alexandria Beetles were out hit by the MoonDogs, but won the game 7-2.  Jake Tanis (Mercer) continued to stay hot at the plate going 1-for-4 with one run scored and three RBI.  Beetle catcher, Taylor Davis (Morehead State), was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI.  The Beetles starter, Shawn Riesgraf (St. Cloud State), threw 6.0 innings of one run baseball to earn the win for Alexandria. 

Brainerd 8, Willmar 3
The Lunkers and the Stingers had to go to extra innings to see who the better team was Friday night.  The Lunkers put up six runs in the 11th inning to take the game Friday night.  The Lunker were led by Matt Hillsinger (Radford) who was 3-for-6 with one run scored and one RBI.  Designated hitter, David Allbritton (Emporia State), was 2-for-5 during the win with three RBI. 

Duluth, Rochester
The scheduled double header between the Rochester Honkers and the Duluth Huskies at 5:05 PM in Duluth has been postponed due to weather. The games have not yet been determined as to when they will be made up.

La Crosse, Wisconsin
The game between the La Crosse Loggers and Wisconsin Woodchucks at Copeland Park for Friday night has been suspended in the top of the third inning with the score 2-0 in favor of the Wisconsin Woodchucks.  The game will pick back up at 5:00 pm tomorrow and will be played out to regulation.  The second game, which was originally scheduled for Saturday, will be played a half hour after the conclusion of the first game. 

Eau Claire, Madison
Friday night’s game will be made up as part of a double-header on Saturday evening. The Eau Claire Express lead the game 2-1 over the Mallards with two outs and DeMarcus Tidwell (Yavapai) up to bat.
