The Mankato MoonDogs Baseball Club announced on Tuesday that Ron Coomer will be the special guest for Minnesota Twins Night, July 29 at Franklin Rogers Park against the Rochester Honkers.

Coomer, a corner infielder, spent the first six seasons of his nine-year MLB career with the Twins. He was named to the 1999 American League All-Star Team and followed that in 2000 with a career-high 16 home runs and 82 RBIs. He spent his last three seasons with the Cubs, Yankees and Dodgers, finishing with a career batting average of .274.

After his playing career, Coomer took his talent to the broadcast booth, as he is currently serving as a Fox Sports North baseball analyst for Twins broadcasts.

The ‘Coom Dawg’ will be accompanied by several other Twins staples, as Twins mascot TC Bear, Wally ‘The Beerman’ and organist Sue Nelson will all be on hand to celebrate the night with the MoonDogs. Coomer is slated to throw out the first pitch, and will be available for autographs and pictures during the game.

Gates will open at 6:05 p.m., with first pitch slated for 7:05 p.m. Tickets are still available for the game. Call the MoonDogs office at 625-7047 to purchase your tickets or buy online at www.mankatomoondogs.com.
