The Green Bay Bullfrogs took game one of the doubleheader by a score of 4-1 over the La Crosse Loggers on Friday.  The Bullfrogs went ahead 4-0 after two innings and never looked back.  Green Bay’s first basemen Troy Scott (Washington) was 1-for-3 with a three run homer.  Owen Jones (Portland) earned the win while Logger Kodey Simon (Winona State) took the loss. 

The La Crosse Loggers battled back from game one after losing 4-1 with a 2-0 victory.  Tony Mueller (Winona State) led the way with a 1-for-4 performance with the games only two runs scored and also had his 19th stolen base.  The Loggers Dan Langfield (Memphis) threw a complete game one hitter with ten strikeouts in the win.  Brad Zapenas (Boston College) had the lone hit for the Bullfrogs in the loss. 

Eau Claire 1, Madison 0
Madison 2, Eau Claire 1
Eau Claire took game one of the doubleheader by a score of 1-0 in a pitcher’s duel in Madison on Friday night.  The Express received a great pitching performance from Ian Campbell (Corpus Christi) who threw a complete game shutout while striking out four Mallards.  The Mallards Rusty Shellhorn (Washington State) threw a fantastic game as well, but gave up one run over 7.0 innings.  The game’s lone run came from Andrew Leonard (Illinois Chicago) who was 2-for-3 with a run scored. 

The Mallards bounced back in game two with a 2-1 victory over the Express at the ‘Duck Pond’.  The Mallards pitching staff of Estevan Uriegas (Texas AM) and JR Graham (Santa Clara) combined to throw a six hitter and strike out eight Express batters.  All-Stars Harold Riggins (NC State) and Kyle Gaedele (Valparaiso) both doubled in the win. 

Wisconsin Rapids 3, Wisconsin 2
It took the Wisconsin Rapids and Wisconsin Woodchucks extra innings on Friday night to determine a winner.  The Rafters came out on top in the tenth Evan Peters (Santa Clara) scored.  Both Beck Wheeler (Santa Barbara) and Quinton Perry (Santa Clara) homered in the win.  The Rafters Brad Douthit (USC) earned the win in relief throwing the final 3.2 innings of one run baseball.  Rafter’s starter Tommy Organ (North Florida) struck out 11 Woodchucks in a no-decision. 

Willmar 6, Duluth 5
The Willmar Stingers came from behind Friday night to beat the Duluth Huskies at Wade Stadium.  The Stingers were down 5-4 going into the ninth inning, but they put up two runs to win the game 6-5.  All-Star right fielder Jordan Smith (St. Cloud State) was a 3-for-4 with three RBI and a walk.  Zeke DeVoss (Miami) of the Huskies continued his hot hitting going 3-for-4 with two runs scored while Home Run Derby Champion Mark Threlkeld (Louisiana Tech) hit his eighth homerun of the season.  Jayson Huett (Northwest Missouri State) earned the win throwing 1.2 innings out of relief. 

Rochester 2, Mankato 0
It was the Mike Strong (Oklahoma State) show in Mankato on Friday night.  The Honkers starter threw 7.0 innings of baseball while only allowing three hits and zero runs.  The win moves him to 5-1 on the season.  The MoonDogs Alex Blackford (Arizona State) takes the loss throwing 6.2 innings while only allowing two runs and striking out nine. 

St. Cloud 10, Thunder Bay 1
The River Bats used eleven hits and five Thunder Bay errors to take the game 10-1 in St. Cloud.  St. Cloud was led by All-Star short-stop Steve Nyistzor (Rutgers) who had a great day at the plate.  He was 4-for-5 with two runs scored while centerfielder Andrew Aplin (Arizona State) had three RBI.  The River Bats pitching staff combined to throw an eight hitter while striking out seven Border Cats. 

Brainerd, Alexandria
Tonight’s scheduled game between the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers and the Alexandria Beetles was suspended due to rain and lightning in the middle of the fifth inning.

Battle Creek, Waterloo
Friday’s doubleheader between the Waterloo Bucks and the Battle Creek Bombers, scheduled for a 5:05 pm CT start in Battle Creek, Michigan, has been rained out.
