The Freie brother’s from Wilton, Iowa have always been around the game baseball. Drew Freie, a current Eau Claire Express pitcher and Wes, a former Mankato MoonDog know what winning baseball is all about. The two prepped at Wilton High School and were both multi-sport standouts.

Drew Freie is currently 1-0 with three saves for the Express this season. Drew comes from Junior College powerhouse Des Moines Area Community College where the Bears were 47-11 this season. The hard throwing righty led the team with a 9-2 record with six saves as a freshman. Freie was a recipient of the Bob Feller Pitching Award in 2009 for the best high school pitcher in the state of Iowa (2A) and was also 1st Team All-State (2A) in 2009.

Drew’s brother Wes was one of the best high school baseball player’s in the state of Iowa in the last ten years. Wes was part of the record-setting Wilton Wildcats who went 42-0 in 2005 and won the Iowa State Championship (2A). Wes was the 2A Pitcher and Player of the year as a senior and a two-time member of the Iowa Super Team.

Wes played at the University of Iowa in Iowa City from 2006-2009 and played for the Mankato MoonDogs in 2007-2008. The 6’3’’ righty finished his Hawkeye career with a .298 average in 114 games played. Wes currently is the Director of Baseball Operations for Diamond Dreams Baseball and Softball Academy in Iowa City, IA.
