The Green Bay Bullfrogs took game one of the double header 13-2 in Wisconsin Rapids thanks to 17 hits on the night. Leadoff hitter Daniel Putnam had four hits to pace Green Bay while Joel Hutter (Dallas Baptist) had two hits and drove in three runs. Riley Tincher (Wisconsin Whitewater) earned the win throwing 5.0 innings of two-hit baseball. Brian Embery (Wayland Baptist) homered in the loss for the Rafters.
The Bullfrogs took game two of the double header 7-1 as Green Bay only allowed three hits in the nightcap. The Bullfrogs pitching staff combined to strike out eleven batters in just 7.0 innings while the offense cranked out three homeruns. Scott Schebler (Wichita State) hit his league leading 10th homerun of the season.
Eau Claire 7, Wisconsin 4
The Eau Claire Express beat the Wisconsin Woodchucks 7-4 thanks to a five run third inning and a great pitching performance from Ian Campbell (Corpus Christi). The Express’ big fifth inning came as Lucas Herbst (Santa Clara) had a two-run triple and Herbst and Nathan Orf (Illinois Chicago) scored on back-to-back hits. Campbell threw 7.0 innings to earn his sixth win of the season for Eau Claire. Wisconsin’s Jamie Bruno had a two-run homer in the loss.
Thunder Bay 11, Mankato 2
The Thunder Bay Border Cats offense exploded as they beat the Mankato MoonDogs 11-2 Tuesday night. The Border Cats jumped out to a 4-0 lead thanks to a Ben Scheffer (Florida Tech) bases clearing triple in the first. Thunder Bay starting pitcher Connor Little (Hawaii) registered his first win of the season throwing 6.2 innings of one run baseball. The MoonDogs walked eleven batters on the night and also made three errors despite out hitting the Border Cats in the loss.
Brainerd 9, Alexandria 7
The Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers went into extra innings Tuesday night against the Beetles from Alexandria. The Lunkers scored two in the top of the 11th inning to win the game 9-7 despite five defensive miscues. Brainerd was led by Chadd Krist (California Berkeley) and Ryan Abrahamson (Minnesota) who both had three RBI in the win. Tim Roberson (Florida Gulf Coast) had four hits in the loss for the Beetles.
Rochester 11, Willmar 2
The Rochester Honkers jumped all over the Willmar Stingers Tuesday night in Willmar with a seven run first inning. The Honkers had four players with multi-hit games and were led by Jimmy Waters (Kansas) who had two hits and two RBI. Rochester used a great pitching performance from Aaron Siefken (Iowa Central CC) who earned his second win of the season by throwing a five hitter over 7.0 innings.
La Crosse 5, Waterloo 4
The La Crosse Loggers beat the Waterloo Bucks 5-4 Tuesday night thanks to some great relief pitching by Trent Fuller. Fuller threw 6.2 innings in relief while only allowing two hits and striking out nine batters. The Loggers came from behind with a three run eighth inning as Seth Mejias-Brean (Arizona) had a two RBI single. The Bucks Pat Stover (Santa Clara) homered and drove in two in the loss.
Battle Creek 4, Madison 2
The Bombers jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings and held on to beat the Madison Mallards 4-2 at C.O. Brown Stadium. Battle Creek starting pitcher Corey Chaffins (Eastern Michigan) earned his second win of the season after throwing 8.0 innings of two-hit baseball. The Bombers Sean Deegan (Penn State) and Parker Berberet (Oregon State) each had two hits in the victory.
St. Cloud 8, Duluth 4
The St. Cloud River Bats beat the Duluth Huskies Tuesday night at Joe Faber Field by a score of 8-4. The River Bats started quickly at home as they were up 6-2 after three innings and tacked on two more runs later in the game. St. Cloud received a great pitching performance from Tim Verthein and JC Casey who earned the win and save respectively. All-Star short-stop Steve Nyisztor (Rutgers) homered and knocked in two runs in the win for St. Cloud.
