The Alexandria Beetles knocked out 19 hits in the first game of the double header as they beat the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers 13-2 at Stewart C. Mills Field.  The Beetles six batters with multi-hit games and were led by Marcus Semien (California Berkeley) and Jake Tanis (Mercer) who both had three hits and three RBI.  Starting pitcher Kevin Vangheluwe (Michigan) earned his 3rd win in relief throwing 5.0 innings of one run baseball.  The Lunkers had five defensive miscues in the loss. 

Alexandria completed the two game sweep of the Lunkers by taking the game 2-0 as Sander Beck (Maryland) threw a complete game no-hitter.  Beck earned his fifth win of the season as he struck out 10 Lunkers batters.  The Beetles runs came from game one star Marcus Semien and Matt Lowenstein (Loyola Marymount) who each had RBI’s. 

Madison 4, Battle Creek 3
The Mallards used a pass ball in the ninth inning to break a 3-3 tie to beat the Battle Creek Bombers 4-3.  Ryan Levine (Virginia) reached base on a double to right field, advanced to third on a 6-3 putout and eventually scored.  Grant Gordon (Missouri State) earned his 4th win of the season in relief of Matt LaMothe (Oakland).  Gordon threw 2.0 innings of hitless baseball.  Battle Creek’s Andrew Lawrence homered and drove in the lone runs for the Bombers in the loss. 

Thunder Bay 8, Mankato 5
The Thunder Bay Border Cats beat the Mankato MoonDogs 8-5 thanks to nine hits and seven free passes issued by the MoonDog staff.  Ryan Court (Illinois State) led the Border Cat offense has he was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.  Zak Miller (New Mexico) received his 7th win of the season as he threw 5.0 innings of four run baseball. 

Duluth 9, St. Cloud 7
St. Cloud jumped to a four run lead after three innings, but Duluth scored nine runs in the fourth thru seventh to win 9-7.  The Huskies committed six errors on the night, but received a great pitching effort from the bullpen as Anders Engberg (Minnesota Duluth) and Jason Whalen (Hillsborough CC) combined to allow five hits and two runs.  The 2010 All-Star Homerun Derby Champion, Mark Threlkeld (Louisiana Tech), blasted a three-run homer to lead the Huskie offense. 

Willmar 14, Rochester 4
The Willmar Stingers scored 14 runs on 13 hits Wednesday night as they beat the Rochester Honkers 14-4.  Isaac Ballou (Marshall) knocked in six runs on two hits.  The Stingers short-stop Mikey Reynolds (St. Mary’s) was 4-for-5with two runs scored and three RBI. 

Green Bay 7, Wisconsin Rapids 2
The Green Bay Bullfrogs beat the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 7-2 in front of 1,064 fans.  The Bullfrogs pitching staff combined to allow seven hits while striking out eleven.  Starting pitcher Owen Jones (Portland) earned the win while Brian Burgess (West Alabama) earned his sixth save of the season.  Mike Furlong hit two homeruns in the win in a 2-for-5 night.  Derek Brown (Spring Arbor) had three hits in the loss for the Rafters. 

La Crosse 6, Waterloo 5
The Loggers beat the Bucks in extra innings 6-5 as they came from behind in the bottom of the 10th inning at Copeland Park.  The Bucks were leading 5-4 as the bottom of the 10th inning started, but won as Chris O’Dowd (Dartmouth) and Sam Picchiotti scored.  O’Dowd has two hits, scored two runs and drove in three in the win while Tony Mueller (Winona State) continued his hot hitting with a 2-for-4 performance.
