LA CROSSE, WI – The La Crosse Loggers Baseball Club announced that a fire was started at Copeland Park Sunday, August 29th completely destroying the third base dugout and a large portion of the third base grandstand.  The cause of the fire is unknown as investigators have been working throughout the morning to uncover the cause.

Copeland Park, and the stadium where the damage occurred, are owned by the City of La Crosse.

“We are devastated,” said La Crosse Loggers General Manager Chris Goodell.  “Copeland Park is not only our home field, but is it is also used by many community and youth baseball programs.  Everyone has lost today.”

The La Crosse Loggers were notified of the fire at approximately 5:30 am this morning.  Investigators have been on the scene throughout the morning and more details will follow in the coming days.
