The St. Cloud River Bats announce that Director of Business Operations Wes Sharp will be leaving the organization on October 22 after accepting the Director of Promotions position with the Colorado Sky Sox, the Triple-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies.

“Wes has done an outstanding job for the organization and we wish him all the best with his new opportunity,” River Bats owner Joel Sutherland said. “He took pride in the River Bats organization. He worked hard every day, all summer long and that is much appreciated,” Sutherland added.

After spending two seasons with the organization, Sharp was promoted to the Director of Business Operations position this summer. He had responsibility of the day to day business operations for the organization throughout the 2010 season. For the Sky Sox Sharp will have overall responsibility of the promotional schedule including sponsorship sales and game presentation.

“Working for the River Bats has been everything I could have hoped for, Joel provided me the flexibility to do things I could never get a chance to do at my age. The Northwoods League is a great league to work in and I was fortunate enough to work for one of the best organizations in the league,” Sharp said. “What I will miss most are the many River Bats fans I now call friends,” Sharp added.

According to Sutherland a search will begin immediately to find Sharp’s replacement. The team will be looking for someone with a baseball business background who has the ability to coordinate an innovative off-season. The team is planning many changes for the organization including but not limited to an entire new look for the team.
