The La Crosse Loggers Baseball Club announced today that former La Crosse Central High standout Bobby Juan will indeed return home to play for the Loggers in 2011.

Juan, now a freshman at the University of Minnesota, had one of the more storied high school careers of any player in the state of Wisconsin. This past year the 6-1, 200 pound outfielder/pitcher was named the Gatorade Wisconsin State Player of the Year and the La Crosse Tribune Player of the Year after hitting a robust .603 with 14 home runs and 42 RBI’s in 28 games. This was the icing on the cake to high school career that saw Juan hit 22 home runs and drive in 121 runs in three-plus years as a starter at Central High School.

Prior to the 2010 draft in June, Baseball America executive editor Jim Callis had this to say about Juan.

“Bobby Juan is the best pure hitter there is in Wisconsin”.

Juan was equally as impressive on the mound for the Red Raiders this past spring when he posted a 6-1 record with a 1.30 ERA including 58 strikeouts in 32.2 innings pitched. A four-time Team MVP and a three-time First Team All-Conference selection, Juan was also named the 2010 La Crosse Area Sports Commission High School Male Athlete of the Year.
