The Thunder Bay Border Cats are pleased to announce that Mike Steed will return as field manager for the 2011 Northwoods League season. 

The 40 year old native of Burlington, Ontario, Canada will be entering his third year with the team after serving as an assistant coach under manager Joel Barta during the 2009 season. 

Steed guided the Border Cats to a 31-38 record last season including a 20-15 mark at home. After embarking on a franchise record 12 game road trip in July, the Cats finished strong going 8-4 in their final 12 games.  Under Steed’s guidance, Thunder Bay also sent a league high six players to the 2010 NWL All Star Game. 

The former left-handed pitcher played his collegiate baseball in Oklahoma at both Northeastern AM College (JUCO), and Northeastern State University.
