The Waterloo Bucks have signed their first player for the 2011 Northwoods season.  The Bucks signed right-handed pitcher Shane Broyles, a sophomore at Seminole State College in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Last season, Broyles appeared in 13 games for the Trojans, compiling a 5-3 record and a 5.40 ERA. In 63.1 innings pitched, the Burleson, Texas native struck out 45, while walking just 22.

“I’m ready to get this thing going,” said Broyles. “I’ve heard great things about Waterloo.”

The 6’2″, 185-pound hurler played for the Martinsville Mustangs in the Coastal Plain League last summer. Broyles appeared in 10 games, starting eight, finishing the season with a 5-4 record, a 4.31 ERA, and 35 strikeouts in 48 innings pitched.
