Eau Claire Express field manager Dale Varsho has announced that four more players from the 2010 Northwoods League Championship team have verbally committed for the 2011 season. Ty Forney (New Mexico State), Josh Scheffert (Nebraska), Garrett Custons (Air Force) and Evan Zerff (Long Island) will return to Eau Claire this summer.

Forney will return as a utility infielder, able to play both second base and shortstop. He spent most of last summer as the Express shortstop and provided some highlight-real plays on the infield. Forney left the Express shortly before the regular season ended to attend school in the fall.

Scheffert also returns as a utility infielder, with the ability to play both corner infield spots. Scheffert spent most of the 2010 season at first base for the Express, but shifted over to third base for the playoff run.

Custons served as a temporary player at the beginning of the 2010 season and will do the same for the Express in 2011. Because of a commitment to the Air Force, Custons will play out his temporary contract with the Express and then return to the Air Force. Custons is a catcher that provides solid defense and a good bat to the Express line up.

Zerff returns as a part of the bullpen. In 2010, Zerff served as the closer for most of the season. He closed out Game 3 of the Division Series in 2010 against the Wisconsin Woodchucks.

The Express open up the 2011 season June 1, on the road at Wisconsin.
