The Thunder Bay Border Cats are pleased to officially announce that two more players from the 2010 team will be returning as the club has signed first baseman Ty Wosleger and catcher Will Thorp for the 2011 Northwoods League season.
Wosleger, a 6’4", 210 pound lefthanded hitter, batted .241 last season with one home run, five doubles and 18 runs batted in. The native of East Hampton, CT, was named the winner of the NWL "Rawlings Finest in the Field" award as the top defensive first baseman in the 16 team league. Wosleger made just four errors in 53 games for a .994 fielding percentage. He is currently a junior at Fairfield University in Connecticut.
Thorp, who hails from Surrey, BC, played in 45 games last year and hit .243 with six doubles and 10 RBI’s. The 6’0", 180 pounder impressed Manager Mike Steed with his gritty style of play behind the plate. Thorp is in his junior season at Lewis-Clark State College in Idaho.
The Border Cats play their home opener Monday, June 6th, at Subway Field at Port Arthur Stadium at 7:05 p.m.
