The Waterloo Bucks announced the signing of left-handed pitcher Brandon Parrent to their roster for the 2011 season. Parrent is a junior at Texas A&M University.

In 2010, Parrent pitched for Temple College. The 6’3", 215-pound hurler went 11-6 with a 3.50 ERA. Parrent had 95 strikeouts in 90 innings pitched. In 2009, the Flower Mound, Texas native played for Howard College. There, he appeared in two games and finished the season with an ERA of 3.00.

"Brandon comes highly recommended from A&M Coach Mike Clement. Every kid I have received from him has worked out and I expect this to be no different," said Bucks Manager Jason Nell. "Brandon has the ability to run the ball up there a bit, and by utilizing his secondary stuff effectively and efficiently, like all great relievers, he should be a very valuable asset to us come late in the game."

Born July 14, 1990, Parrent played last summer for the North Texas Copperheads of the Texas Collegiate League. He had 14 strikeouts in 24.2 innings pitched and an ERA of 2.19, holding opposing batters to a .171 average.

The Bucks will open the 2011 season on the road at the Battle Creek Bombers on June 1.
