The Green Bay Bullfrogs are excited to announce the signings of Dayne Quist and David Popkins both from the University of California-Davis for their upcoming 5th anniversary 2011 season.
Quist a junior left hander pitched a team high 95 innings for the Aggies last season finishing with a 7-4 record and a 5.57 ERA. Quist also lead the team in strikeouts with 79. This season Quist has pitched 16 innings striking out 22 with an overall record of 1-2.
Popkins is a junior right handed pitcher and switch hitting outfielder for the Aggies and was an All Big-West First Team selection in 2010. He led the team in average (.388), hits (73) and RBI (43) while making 16 appearances as a relief pitcher. Popkins also had 15 doubles, 3 triples and 5 home runs last season. Through 10 games this season Popkins is hitting .353, while making 3 relief appearances on the mound posting an ERA of .087
"We recruit hard in California because they produce so many professional prospects,” said Bullfrogs Owner and President Jeff Royle. “The west coast kids always come in with so many more games under their belt and they get to practice outside all year long so they are well prepared to come in and help us immediately.”
