The Battle Creek Bombers are pleased to announce the signing of two top NAIA players from Taylor University: Rhett Goodmiller and Ryne Otis. The Trojans finished the 2010 season at #23 in the NAIA rankings.

Rhett Goodmiller is in his sophomore year at Taylor after spending 2010 with Central Michigan University. This season, Goodmiller is hitting .333 through 11 games with seven RBIs for the 5-6 Trojans. He comes from a baseball family: both his grandfathers and his father played college baseball.

“Rhett is a good ballplayer and has impressed our coaching staff the past couple of years.  He was a guy we targeted early on and we are very happy to have him here this summer.” said Bombers GM Brian Colopy

Ryne Otis joined the Bombers at the end of last season for four games and hit a staggering .600. So far in Taylor University’s campaign, he’s posted a .355 batting average with a team-high 10 RBIs. He has been the Mid-Central College Conference’s Player of the Week numerous times and has been named to the all-conference team the past two seasons.

“Ryne impressed a lot of people in his short time here in Battle Creek last summer.  He was a guy we targeted to bring back and we are ecstatic to see what he can do with us for an entire season.” said Bombers GM Brian Colopy

Both players attended Norwell High School in Indiana and were varsity baseball teammates.
