The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club announced today the signing of two players from the University of Kansas Jayhawks.  Infielder Jake Marasco and pitcher Jordan Jakubov have joined the squad for the 2011 season.

Marasco is a 6’3”, 208-pound redshirt sophomore infielder who is currently hitting .284 with six doubles, two homeruns and 12 RBI.  He just went 1-3 and scored two runs in KU’s 4-2 in over #4 ranked Texas on Saturday.  Texas however took the series 2 games to 1.

A graduate of Maize High School in Wichita, KS, Marasco finished his senior season hitting .448 with 13 doubles and 33 RBI in only 23 games.  He lettered four times in football and twice in baseball.  Marasco was the KAKE TV student Athlete of the Year, Maize male Athlete of the Year and a member of the National Honor Society and Kansas Scholar Athlete.

Jakubov is a 6’4”, 193-pound redshirt sophomore right-handed pitcher who has made 8 appearances on the year, pitching 10.0 innings and striking out 5.  Opponents are only hitting .222 against him.  Jakubov also graduated from Maize High School in Wichita, KS where he was selected as a Louisville Slugger All-American as a senior.  Jakubov was named his team’s MVP twice during his prep career.
