Brandon Moore, a freshman right-handed pitcher from the University of Arkansas, will make the trip up to Wausau later this spring, choosing the Wisconsin Woodchucks for his first taste of summer ball.

Boasting size typical of a Razorbacks’ linebacker or fullback, the 6-foot-3, 245-pound Moore broke into the Arkansas starting rotation in his first collegiate season, and has seen promising results.

Leading his team with 10 starts and 51.2 innings pitched on the spring, Moore holds a 3 – 1 record with a 3.66 earned run average- impressive statistics for anyone playing baseball in the Southeastern Conference, much less a freshman.

“Brandon is a strike-throwing right hander with tremendous movement,” said Arkansas head coach Dave Van Horn to Razorbacks.com. “Brandon was one of our top freshman pitchers in the fall. He’s a very good competitor, and he fields his position well … he throws strikes and gets ground balls.”

A native of Van Buren, Ark., one can’t help but draw early comparisons to former Wisconsin Woodchuck, 2010 South Division All-Star, and Arkansas native Don Lisi- who also made his name as an innings-eating, groundball-inducing mauler.

Pitching for a 30–13 Razorbacks ballclub, Moore should be a seasoned veteran of big crowds and intense situations before he makes the trip north, as his team works their way into postseason play.
