The Bombers continued to complete their roster for the 2011 season today with the addition of Troy Forton and Jimmy Martinez from Western Michigan University.
In his junior year, Troy Forton is putting up fantastic numbers out of the bullpen for the Broncos. Currently sporting a 3-1 record and a 2.08 ERA in 13 appearances, Troy is a two-way player, also playing infield for WMU and batting .251 with 24 RBI. Raised just two hours north of Battle Creek, he attended North Muskegon High School and was named first-team all-state, all-district, all-conference, in his senior season, as well as team MVP.
“Troy gives us some flexibility with our pitching staff and lineup. Donnie will be able to use him in many different situations this summer.” said Bombers GM Brian Colopy.
Jimmy Martinez spent the 2010 with the Bombers and is excited to return for the upcoming campaign. Last summer, he played in 20 games for Battle Creek and put up a .208 batting average. This season with the Broncos, Jimmy has improved, hitting .269 with 18 RBIs and a solid .400 on-base percentage.
“Jimmy was a fan favorite and an exciting player last year for us while he was here. We are looking forward to having him with us all summer and believe he add great depth to our outfield and middle infield.” said Bombers GM Brian Colopy.
