The Brainerd Lakes AreaLunkers of the Northwoods League announced today that right-handed pitcherThomas Hoenshell and outfielder Andrew Letourneau of California StateUniversity Bakersfield have signed contracts to play for the Lunkers thissummer, according to general manager Dustin Anaas.

A 6-foot-6 junior fromOrange County, Calif., Hoenshell has pitched well in 12 starts for theRoadrunners this season, compiling a 3.31 ERA. Before transferring toBakersfield, he played for Cypress College in Cypress, Calif., where he had a(10-3) record with a 3.07 ERA during the 2010 season. Hoenshell will be reliedon as a starting pitcher for the Lunkers this summer.

Letourneau, a 6-footjunior from Bakersfield, Calif., has been an everyday starter for theRoadrunners this season in center field, hitting .300 with 29 RBIs, along witha .354 on-base percentage. He played at Bakersfield College last season andposted a .383 batting average. He also started as a freshman at Wichita Stateduring the 2009 season.

Tommy and Andrew are twoplayers who have really performed at a high level over the past few years,”said Lunkers General Manager Dustin Anaas. “They both played a big part in thesuccess of the Cal-State Bakersfield program this season, and we expect them tobe integral pieces of the 2011 Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers.
