The Green BayBullfrogs are excited to announce two more signings for the 2011 season. Austin Blaski and Kyle Lindquist are both right handed pitchers playing key roles for the #1 ranked team in Division III. The Etta Express currently carries a remarkable 42-3 record.
Austin Blaski has been the #2 starter for Marietta College for the entire season. The 6’4” Pandora, OH native has made 15 appearances, including 12 starts, and carries a 10-2 record with a remarkable 1.76 ERA. In 81 2/3 innings of work, Blaski has allowed just 53 hits for a .185 opponents’ batting average while striking out 74 batters.
Kyle Lindquist has been equally effective for Marietta pitching in the closer’s role. In 25 relief appearances Lindquist has recorded 11 saves and carries a 1.93 ERA. Over the course of 37 1/3 innings, the Columbus, OH native has walked just 7 batters while striking out 41.
“Marietta College is constant national title contender at the Division III level and is clearly the favorite to win this year’s title. Austin and Kyle are two of the biggest reasons why.” said Field Manager Jordan Bischel. “Austin is a power pitcher that consistently throws in the low 90’s while Kyle will constantly keep hitters off balance. The similarity between these two guys is their ability to constantly fill the strike zone.”
Marietta College and Chapman University will both be competing at the Division III College World Series which begins this Friday, May 27, at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton. Bullfrog Brian Rauh is expected to start game 1 for Chapman at 10:00 am on Friday. During Rauh’s latest start the Chapman ace ran his career record to a perfect 22-0. Marietta’s first game of the championship is scheduled for 1:15 on Friday.
