Four recent MLB Draft selections will be in various NWL starting line-ups tonight.  Abel Guerrero (Galveston), Brian Flynn (Wichita State), Chris Burgess (Blackhawk CC), and Josh Martin (Samford) will all be starting on the mound in Northwoods League Stadiums Thursday night. 


Abel Guerrero, of the Mankato MoonDogs, takes on the Alexandria Beetles tonight at Knute Nelson Memorial Park.  Guerrero, a 6’0’’ left-handed pitcher, looks to improve his record to 2-0 against the Beetles.  The Galveston Community College product was selected in the 36th round yesterday afternoon by the Cleveland Indians.  Guerrero beat the St. Cloud River Bats on June 4th in his 1st NWL start as he struck out six in 5.0 innings of work. 


Rochester Honker Brian Flynn also toes the rubber Thursday night at home against the Duluth Huskies.  The Wichita State left-handed pitcher stands a towering 6’8’’ and was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the 7th round. Flynn was 6-4 for the Shockers in 2011 with a 4.63 earned run average. 


Chris Burgess and the Madison Mallards face the Waterloo Bucks at newly renovated Warner Park tonight.  Burgess hopes to improve his 2011 NWL record to 2-0 against the Waterloo Bucks (3-5).  The Blackhawk Community College pitcher had 65 strikeouts in 52.1 innings in 2011. 


The Green Bay Bullfrogs call upon Josh Martin tonight against the Eau Claire Express at Carson Park in Eau Claire. Martin was recently selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 25th round of the MLB Draft.  The 6’4’’ right-handed pitcher attended Samford this past season and was 6-2 in 58.2 innings pitched for the Bulldogs.
