St. Cloud 5, Mankato 3

The River Bats out dueled the MoonDogs 5-3 at Faber Field in St. Cloud on Wednesday night.  St. Cloud’s Jake Smith picked up the win while the MoonDogs Alex Blackford took the loss despite only allowing four River Bats hits.  Smith threw 7.0 innings and struck out five while allowing eight hits. Bryan Haar drove in two runs for St. Cloud and Jeremy Banks picked up two hits. 

Brainerd 8, Thunder Bay 5

The Lunkers used a six run 7th inning to take down the Border Cats on Wednesday.  Brainerd had four players with multi-hit games and were led by Matt Hillsinger who was 3-for-4.  Aaron Griffin picked up the win for the Lunkers as he threw 7.0 innings of five hit baseball.  Ty Wosleger had three RBIs in the loss for Thunder Bay.

Willmar 6, Duluth 0

The Stingers shut out the Huskies by a score of 6-0 at Wade Stadium in Duluth.  Willmar’s Dan Russell picked up the win as he threw a shut out in 7.0 innings while striking out six.  Blake Shepherd was 3-for-4 with four RBIs in the win. 

Battle Creek 8, Wisconsin 2

Battle Creek scored early and often against the Woodchucks on the road Wednesday.  Battle Creek scored in five of their nine innings and were carried by Jordan Dean and Dan Dispensa who each had three hits.  Troy Forton picked up the win as he threw 7.0 innings and struck out five. Nolan Sanburn only threw 2.0 innings, but struck out six in his short outing.  Troy White also homered in the win for Battle Creek. 

Eau Claire 7, Madison 5

The Express were down 3-2 after three innings of play, but used a two run 4th and three run 5th to beat the Mallards 7-5 at Carson Park. The Express were out hit 12-10, but played better defense and had timely hitting.  The Express pitching staff struck out eight Mallards on the night and only walked two.  Zac Fisher, Josh Scheffert, and Nolan Clark each had two hits in the win.  The Mallards had four players with multi-hit games in the loss. 

La Crosse 16, Waterloo 5

The Loggers put on a hitting display Wednesday at Riverfront Stadium in Waterloo.  La Crosse pounded out 23 hits and used a nine run 7th inning to beat the Bucks 16-5.  La Crosse native Bobby Juan was 4-for-5 with four RBIs in the win and Andrew Knapp also had four hits in the Logger win.  Waterloo’s Jeremy Lucas stayed hot at the plate as he was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. 

Alexandria 13, Rochester 4

The Beetles pounded out 15 hits and scored 13 runs on Wednesday at home.  Alexandria’s starters all registered a hit in the win and were paced by Rick Devereaux who was 3-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored.  Kevin Grove also drove in four runs for the Beetles.  Matt Fyfe notched his 2nd win of the season as he threw 7.0 innings of five hit baseball.  

Green Bay 9, Wisconsin Rapids 3

The Bullfrogs took it to the Rafters by a score of 9-3 Wednesday at Witter Field in Wisconsin Rapids.  Green Bay’s pitching staff only allowed three hits on the night and struck out five Rafters.  Drew Bradshaw picked up his 1st win of the season for the Bullfrogs as he threw 6.0 innings of two hit baseball.  The Bullfrogs were led offensively by Mitch Haniger who drove in three runs on two hits.  The 1st four batters for Green Bay registered an RBI in the win.
